These wild horses live on the Montana Wyoming border on what is known as the Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range.

These horses have survived as a herd in this remote and rugged area for hundreds of years. Many still carry with them markings from their Spanish heritage which dates back to the 1600's when they were brought explorers and conquistadors brought them to North America.

The horses are managed by the BLM and monitored by the good folks at the Pryor Mountain Mustang Center and sizable fan club of which I am one. The information I have learned about these beautiful animals comes from my observations but mostly from the records maintained on a yearly basis by the Center and now published in a "Field Guide to the Pryor Mountain Wild Horses 2014 by Steve and Nancy Cerroni.
