Elk (Cervus canadensis) cows live in small herds through the winter months. This group is aware there are wolves in the area and that those wolves killed one of their own just the day before in the same vicinity. They are standing here, assessing the danger and soon walked off and began to graze again, ever nervous and on their guard.
