As their name implies, the Tundra Swan breeds in the Arctic and subarctic tundra. Like the other Arctic swans, they are migratory birds and can only be found in Yellowstone during the spring or fall migratory seasons. They are smaller than their Trumpeter cousins and have a distinct yellow marking at the base of their bills. According to National Geographic, when migrating these birds can fly at altitudes of nearly 27,000 ft. Swan Lake, Yellowstone.
