The Great Grey Owl (Strix nebulosa) is a very large owl, distributed across the Northern Hemisphere, but difficult to find. In some areas it is also called the Great Gray Ghost, Phantom of the north.
For nesting, Great Gray Owls use abandoned structures built by ravens or hawks.
